our story

Scouts BSA Troop 404 was founded and chartered in April 2004—hence the number “404”—by a small group of dedicated families in Colorado Springs. What began as a close-knit, family-oriented troop of just eight Scouts has grown over the years, at times reaching more than 40 active members across all Scout ranks. Our registered leaders bring many years of Scouting experience, guiding youth in camping, hiking, rank advancement, merit badge achievement, and meaningful community service projects. Troop 404 continues to foster a spirit of adventure, leadership, and camaraderie in every Scout.

Who we are

Troop 404 serves boys in northern Colorado Springs as part of the Pathway to the Rockies Council. Our Scouts come from a variety of schools across the area, including public, private, and homeschool settings. A dedicated team of parents and community volunteers supports the troop by serving on the Troop Committee and as Assistant Scoutmasters. Many of our Assistant Scoutmasters—and our Scoutmaster himself—are Eagle Scouts, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to the program. Together, they help guide Scouts through their journey of growth, leadership, and adventure.

high adventure awaits

Troop 404 is Scout-led and adventure-driven. Our high adventure program offers Scouts the opportunity to challenge themselves, build leadership skills, and explore the great outdoors in unforgettable ways. We regularly plan and participate in high adventure trips to:
  • Sea Base in Florida – Sailing & Snorkeling Adventures
  • Northern Tier in Minnesota – Wilderness Canoe Trekking
  • Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico – Backpacking & Mountain Exploration
  • Summer Camps in Yellowstone and South Dakota – Scenic Camping & Skill Building
These experiences are a core part of our program, helping Scouts grow through exploration, teamwork, and outdoor skills.

Troop 404 Values

Troop 404 is committed to providing a safe, fun, and enriching environment where Scouts can fully experience the Scouting program. We aim to:

  • Plan group and individual service projects, outdoor adventures, and merit badge opportunities
  • Hold in-person and/or virtual meetings as needed, based on current health guidelines
  • Promote individual advancement through rank progression and personal growth
  • Mentor Scouts pursuing their Eagle Scout Service Projects
  • Celebrate achievements with Courts of Honor held three times each year
  • Foster Scout Spirit in all activities
  • And most importantly—have fun!
